Toi’s teaching philosophy centers around the idea that every horse and rider combination is unique. She sets individual goals tailored to the specific abilities and aspirations of each rider, creating customized training programs that encourage steady progress while honoring the horse’s natural movement and capabilities. Whether working with a beginner or an advanced rider, her goal is to cultivate a deep understanding of classical dressage, enabling each student to achieve a balanced and effective riding position.

Training Approach

Toi’s training approach not only aims to improve a rider’s technique but also to develop the horse into a true equine athlete. Through a blend of classical methods and modern insights, Toi helps her students build a strong foundation, refine their skills, and achieve competitive success in the dressage arena.

A correct and effective rider position in dressage forms the foundation for clear communication with the horse. The rider’s posture, balance, and subtle aids enable a harmonious dialogue, allowing the horse to respond more accurately and willingly. In classical dressage, proper alignment of the rider’s body not only influences the horse’s movement but also enhances the horse’s ability to perform exercises with grace and fluidity. By focusing on rider position, Toi ensures that her students develop the skills necessary to guide their horses with minimal effort and maximum impact, creating a seamless partnership.

Correct rider position involves more than just sitting upright in the saddle—it encompasses a refined awareness of seat, leg, and hand coordination. Toi emphasizes training techniques that help riders feel the nuances of their horse’s responses and make subtle adjustments to improve performance. This approach cultivates a riding style where aids are given with precision, and communication becomes almost invisible to an observer, showcasing the art of dressage at its finest.
